What’s the first thing we do when we get an injury? Rub it, of course! Touch is the most basic of healing modalities. Massage, reflexology, acupressure and so forth have all been in use for thousands of years. Massage There are many different types of massage. All forms have the ability to relieve stress and improve circulation. From there, we have a wide range of massage techniques to help with more specific concerns such as draining the lymph system, or helping to alleviate muscular pain from a variety of causes and so forth. Massage is about easing stress, so clothing is up to you. You can remove as little or as much as you choose. You will be draped with various sheets, blankets and towels both for modesty and comfort. We practice THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE. This means we will NOT be touching or exposing private parts at anytime! Acupressure Acupressure is an ancient healing art developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago. It is a branch of traditional chinese medicine which works with the same points used in acupuncture. Think in terms of the body being like a house. Just like a home's electrical system, a living body also contains and uses complex energy circuitry. Electrical impulses are what keep our hearts beating, our brain functioning, the nerves talking, etc. There are specific breakers and switches along these energy pathways, which are called acupoints. Acupressure uses fingers, rather than inserting fine needles. This also allows us to use the sensitivity of human touch to eliminate stress, relieve pain and help alleviate acute and chronic complaints. People commonly seek acupressure to help with arthritis, headaches, neck and shoulder tension, back pain, sciatica, sinus and breathing problems. By stimulating the body's natural curative abilities, it also works as a powerful preventative therapy, particularly when combined with essential oils, homeopathy and diet. Reflexology Reflexology is a science that combines the benefits of massage and acupressure by dealing with energy pathways in the hands and feet that correspond to all other parts of the body. It too has been in existence for many thousands of years. If you've never experienced massage or are uncomfortable with the idea, reflexology can be a great way to start. In today’s fast paced society the most over-looked key to health is rest and relaxation, making these health enhancers a beneficial option for most anyone.
